Blog-entry about "Walking Ned Devine"

Walking Ned Devine

I was watching a movie the other day and its name was "Walking Ned Devine".
In the story it was all about a small Irish village in which an old man won the lottery jackpot.
In this village there were only 52 people living but anyway nobody knew who the winner was.
After a while it came out that the winner of the jackpot was Ned Devine, a friend of Michael and Jackie, who died at the same day in front of the TV.
So they both decided that Michael should describe as Ned Devine when the man of the lottery came.
But then a problem showed up - the lottery man wanted to ask around in the village if that's really Ned Devine.
Because of that they had the idea to split the win into 51 pieces, but in return the inhabitants have to tell the man a lie.

What I liked most in the film was, the part when the lottery man came and Ned had to take him to Tullymore, so that Michael had to drive to Ned Devine's house naked with his motorbike.
Personally, I found it very funny and would definately watch it a second time.

My opinion about st@ndby-offices

I was reading an article the other day and it was about the new st@ndby-offices.
These are boxes made out of aluminium who should replace normal offices in the future.

I informed myself a bit about them and I think that they are a great invention.

Wherever you go - you are always able to take your office with you.
Another big advantage is, that in the box, there is enough storage for every equipment you need in the office because sometimes it's a problem to share it with your colleagues.

A disadvantage is that the st@ndby-offices make much noise, which could be really disturbing all day long and you also always need some time to connect it to the power supply.

Finally I would like to say that I like the idea of portable offices but I think that the idea of them should be invented better, so that it can also be very useful for their users.

Homework - Topic: How I use the Internet

My Internet user-behaving

In the year 2013 internet is quite common in every family. Meanwhile it's used by people of nearly every age.
In the past few years more and more people are able to browse with their smartphones.
Me personally, I use the internet most of the time on my mobile phone and not so often at the computer.
I only need my laptop with internet connection when i want to watch a new film witch has just released at an more or less illegal website.
The internet is also more practically when I have to look for something for school.
But when I just want to "google" something or check my new updates on facebook, i use my smartphone.

St. Patrick's Day

St. Patrick's Day

St. Patrick's Day - 17th March - the day when the Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland and parts of the USA and Canada are celebrating. They are celebrating in honor of Patrick - a member of the patron saints of Ireland. In the biggest and although well-known cities there are huge parades and all of the members who join them, are wearing green, which is the national colour of Ireland. What I found really remarkable is that inhabitants in Chicago are colouring their famous river green.
When I informed myself about "St. Patty's Day", i thought that it's really cool how they are enjoying such a festival and I decided that I also want to join one of these parades one day.

And that's my favourite video I found on YouTube:

Matthias Lanzinger

Matthias Lanzinger

Matthias Lanzinger is an Austrian skier who was born at 9th of December 1980 in Abtenau, Salzburg. In the age of 24 years, he got the chance to start his promising career in the World Cup and he did a great job there.
In 2008, when he was just on the way to become a well-known, successful sportsman, Matthias Lanzinger had a terrible accident.
In the World Cup Super-G in Kvitfjell, Norway, his slower leg broke several times, and the emergency medical service wasn’t able to bring him to the next hospital in time, so his slower leg had to be amputated.
From that day on, his life suddenly changed completely.

But then Matthias learned to live with this new aspect in his life, and three years after the crash he decided to start in the skiing World Cup for handicapped people.
Now, he is an example for a man who doesn’t gave up, even though he suffered a hard set back and he can be an ideal for people with the same fate.

Today, five years after the moment who changed the life of a young ambitioned Austrian sportsman, he is very successful in his new sport and he also works as an expert in the Austrian TV.

Press review: Interview from Radio Scotland

Summary about an interview from Radio Scotland

Today I'd like to tell you some things which i listened to, the other day, at Radio Scotland.
In the interview it is all about shopping and the radio programme is moderated by Lisa Cameron, who has two very exciting guests in her studio.
I've heard this interview in school and i found it very interesting because the guests, Ann Gordon and Jim Hudson had a exciting discussion about, why online shopping got so popular in the last years and what are the problems about it.

I thought you might be interested because certainly everyone of you has ever bought something in the internet and the problem of it is, that mostly the stuff is delivered in the time about midday. And at that time only a few people are at home and can receive the delivery.

What Ann basically said is that people also like to go out to go shopping and she thinks that this is also the reason why so many e-commerce companies busted.
After that Jim also mentioned that the internet trade is growing nearly all around the world and it's quite common that people buy their flight tickets online.
What interested me most was that the reason why most of the companies which broke down, is not the delivery problem or anything else - it was because they just sold things which nobody wanted.

Me personally, I partly agree with both experts. On the one hand i think that internet trade is a very convenient way to get goods, but on the other hand i also think that people have to go out to go shopping because it's not good to start buying everything online.

Summary Obama's Victory Speech

Summary Obama's Victory Speech

When I was in YouTube about two weeks ago, I was watching the video of Barack Obama's victory speech. In his speech it was all about motivating the voters and he wanted to thank them for electing him.
I thought you might be interested because you most likely heard of it too and asked yourself a few questions.
Basically what he said was that it's no matter which colour you have or where you come from, but you can make everything you want to in America.
What interested me most was how President Obama brang a wave of enthusiasm to the country.
I agree with what he said about the same chances for children in their education.
I think that it was a very good speech of President Obama and I also think that it was the best choice to vote for him.
